That's not to say it's bad because it isn't natural, if you go by the metric of natural = good, go put a leaf on your penis and live in the woods for a year without any modern technology and tell me if you still like doing things the heckin natural way. What I mean by that is that I think being gender dysphoric and having gender dysphoria are two different things. You can be gender dysphoric and then get over it two months later. I think a lot of people mistake themselves for being trans when they actually aren't just because they're going through some shit with their perception of their gender. If you like the color pink and playing with barbies that doesn't make you a woman. Simplistic example but what I'm trying to get at fundamentally is that sometimes someone will transition, but they won't actually be trans, but they don't know enough about themselves to tell that they aren't actually trans, so they act like men, if that makes sense. GD is a clinical diagnosis, and while I realize that diagnosis is made of criteria and fundamentally derived from gender dysphoric thought patterns, it's also defined by those thought patterns occurring in a significant and sustained manner.
Tldr I think you should need to have a GD diagnosis to transition (so long as municipalities don't just use that policy as a loophole and withhold GD diagnoses to stem the tide of trannies or somesuch)
I think there's also sociological factors at play (as well as genetic ones). The obvious sociological factor is ywnbaw, after you hear that so many times I'd imagine you kinda get to the point where it's like "ok there's gonna be people who are never gonna accept me no matter what so why even try" but something less explored I think is the economic barrier to being trans. If you look at someone like philosophy tube it's pretty obvious she had a lot of dosh to spend on transitioning as compared to your average tranny who has no money for even the basic surgeries, nevermind plastic surgery. I know that for me my appearance is very important. If I'm well-dressed, I perform better just because it's one less thing that's bugging me so I think if you're a fat balding honbeast it feels a lot more disingenuous to perform femininity and people don't like feeling like phonies basically.
