ZUN is bad at coding, he needed other people to code the engines for him. ZUN is bad at drawing (very easy to see) so that's why for the mangas he's just telling random mangakas the story and lets them draw the rest. ZUN is bad at game design, none of the enemies have consistent behavior despite all having the same few sprites, making each game into a drudgery of memorizing all of the patterns that happen in each stage rather than learning different enemy types' bullet patterns and being able to improvisationally assess situations, this requires you to rely solely on your base reaction time when playing through a game for the first time. ZUN is bad at writing, every single game is just the protagonist going around and fighting completely random people trying to figure out why an incident is happening and the perpetrator of the incident is suddenly revealed at the very end and is fought as the final boss. The mangas aren't much better, the only one with anything resembling a good plot being Silent Sinner in Blue. ZUN is good at making melodies and harmonies, but the soundfonts that he chooses to play them through sound like poop, which is why everybody likes listening to covers of the songs more than the original songs. Also, all of the music sounds the same, and you could interchange the music from one game for the music in another game, and somebody playing it for the first time wouldn't even notice anything was off because his music only really conveys whether it's a stage theme, a boss theme, or a final boss theme. ZUN is bad at worldbuilding, nothing in the touhou universe seems consistent or makes any sense, and he's basically admitted that his official canon isn't any more imporant than fan works. ZUN is also an alcoholic who drinks too fucking much and he's also a libtard who made an entire plot point in the rinnosuke morichika series be about global warming
